The South Texas Chapter of the Health Physics Society is a professional society that was organized and chartered in 1964 with the following objectives:

  • Developing scientific knowledge in the study of ionizing radiation

  • Devising practical means to protect people and their environment from harmful effects of ionizing radiation

  • Providing and supporting meetings to discuss scientific endeavors

  • Encouraging scientific research and education dedicated to the science of radiation protection

  • Aiding in research/education opportunities in health physics and radiation protection for college and university students
