House Bill 14 - Relating to support for the development of the nuclear energy industry.
House Bill 14 relating to support for the development of the nuclear energy industry is important. It’s foundational, underlying the resurgence of the nuclear industry in Texas. All industries related to nuclear energy, including uranium mining, enrichment, reactor service companies, workforce development, etc. are dependent on nuclear power plant construction and operation.
HB 14 must pass and become law.
The Senate Business and Commerce Committee heard testimony yesterday. It did not go well. There is opposition from the committee members, particularly the chair, and the anti-nuclear movement in Texas and nationwide.
You can view the committee proceedings here starting at 27:28.

HB 14, has been officially set for a hearing in the Senate Committee on Business & Commerce at 8 am.
This is a critical opportunity to reinforce the importance of state investment in nuclear energy. We strongly encourage TNA members to consider providing oral or written testimony to the Committee, emphasizing how state funding can help accelerate deployment, attract private capital, and secure Texas’s long-term energy leadership.
If it all possible, and especially if you have announced potential projects in the state of Texas, we urge you to attend in person – despite the short notice. Critical to the bill’s success – and potential funding for the program – will be demonstrating the critical need an interest in potentially deploying nuclear in the State of Texas.
Linked HERE is the official hearing notice. If you are able to participate or submit testimony, please let us know—we’re happy to assist with logistics or messaging support.
Thank you for your continued leadership and engagement.
